The massage is for you and your body. You should make yourself comfortable. Let the therapist know if you would prefer more or less pressure. The therapist will gently move you or ask you to move as needed. If you are more comfortable talking, that is fine. If you would prefer to enjoy your massage in silence, that will also be respected.
What are the benefits of massage and bodywork?
Massage and Bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension and pain, improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, reduce mental and physical fatigue and stress, promote faster healing of injured muscular tissue, improve posture, and reduce blood pressure. Massage is also known to promote better sleep, improve concentration, reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being.
Are there any medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable?
Yes. That's why it's important that before you begin your session, the therapist will ask general health questions relating to previous injuries, pregnancy, heart conditions, or diabetes. It is very important that you inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session.
